Excessive thickness change dilemma can (I think) interchangably be used with extreme distortion difficulty. So I'd suggest switching for the equivalent good things, or perhaps enhance the thickness on the shell features so which they develop into more and more stiff and so fewer susceptible to excessive thickness change.
